About us
SixtyEightyThirty was set up by local people to fill a gap in services for victims of domestic abuse. We opened on 3 November 2003 and became a registered charity in January 2004. As research shows that the majority of victims of domestic abuse are women it was decided that the service should focus on this section of the population.
On 1st April 2008 we became a Company Limited by Guarantee, whilst still remaining a registered charity.
We offer practical and emotional support to women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse at any time in their lives. Our aim is to empower women to lead safe and healthy lives. SixtyEightyThirty is a confidential service run by women for women. We also raise awareness of domestic abuse and offer training to workers of other agencies.
We support women what ever their situation. They may be:

| ► | 2 women are killed every week by their abusive partners or ex-partners. |
| ► | A woman may be assaulted up to 35 times before she seeks help. |

Volunteering opportunities could include:
| 1. | offering practical and emotional support for women who need to attend court. |
| 2. | virtual support by linking to websites and other avenues to be able to access furniture and household goods for women fleeing domestic abuse. |
| 3. | fundraising for the organisation. |
| 4. | counselling women who have experienced domestic abuse. |

PLEASE NOTE THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME IS ONLY RUN TWICE A YEAR (see news for more details).
Our trustees
We currently have 12 Trustees. We hold 6 Trustees meetings a year, one of which is the AGM.
All Trustees act in a personal capacity, not as representatives of any organisation with which they may have links.
